It has always been essential for businesses to plan and implement a business development strategy; however in today's economic and political climate, it is paramount.
The implementation of the Legal Services Act 2007 means the imminent arrival of a new approach to the delivery of legal services. The formation of Legal Disciplinary Practices (from 31st March 2009) and Alternative Business Structures (from 2011) will result in increased competition within the legal sector. The purpose of the Act is to increase competition between lawyers and to create a greater choice for the consumer.
In reality this means that law firms and Barristers Chambers will have a new set of competitors. Organisations such as insurance companies, surveyors, accountants and well known high street brands, such as Tesco, can form MDPs and enter the legal market. The changes will therefore not simply affect the legal profession but also opens up a new market and potential collaborations with other professionals.
In a consumer driven market, professional organisations must work hard to understand their clients' business and its requirements if it is to maintain and strengthen its client base.
At Scala we will work with you to devise and implement a business development plan to help secure your future.
